Tag: voodoo dolls research art zombies simbi aquarius
Well, I thought I would make use of the fact that there is a blog here at PlanetVoodoo.tv and hopefully find some creative uses for it. Lord knows my creativity has been running wild lately.
As you may know, I am in the throws of my dissertation. That means a whole lot of left brain thinking, and for an Aquarius/Pisces cusper with ADD, that is quite the challenge. My PhD is in Psychology research and evaluation, and my "other" job is assistant researcher to the dean of the college. I have a ton of data to download and analyze tomorrow. Yep, that means statistics. What was I thinking when pursuing this degree?
Actually, I was thinking and I have very clear reasons for doing what I am doing. But I am an artist as well, and I go back and forth, making voodoo dolls, doing statistics, painting zombies, doing research...can you see the pattern?
One of the projects I started for no other reason than purely being distracted and acting on one of my big ideas one day, is Voodoo-Doll-a-Day.com. Inspired by my friend Gretchen Little of HeArt-a-Day fame, I decided to join the league of eccentric artists who commit to doing one piece of art of their predefined choice a day for however long. Gretchen is going for 1000 hearts. You would never believe how many ways a heart could be drawn! You can check out her stuff here. It is very nice stuff.
But where was I going with this...oh yes, Voodoo-Doll-a-day.com. Just type it in your browser and you will see I have committed to drawing one voodoo doll a day for ... well, let's just say whenever. Papa Legba has coined my creations as Voodoodles. I know, sounds a little corny but he does have a sense of humor and I kind of like it. Plus, when a God tells you to do something because they think it is a good idea, then I just do it (within reason...he is a trickster). In fact he came up with a whole marketing plan which totally was not my intention at all for taking on this project. Needless to say, I have not had time to implement all of his great ideas (and I am not being sarcastic here).
Then, there is PlanetZombi.com. Creating all of those Voodoo dolls invariably led to a number of zombie creations, purely unintentional. But I got another hair brain idea to break off into another domain and so PlanetZombi was born. It is a work in progress but feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.
Amidst all of this flurry of creativity and research, I am inundated with orders for Voodoo dolls. As I said, I have been busy!
I hope my rambling on hasn't bored you and if anyone is reading this, may you be blessed with all things good!
Here's the latest Voodoodle:)
